Grand Opening

Yesterday was the Grand Opening of our church in Pineville, NC. We did alright, with about 230 people in total attendance. In youth we had 26 students, six of which were fifth graders... where the crap did they come from?? It was a very hectic day, but a good one.

What always gets me about significant events at church is that there is always a next Sunday. I mean, I've been moving toward this for so long and now that it is done it feels like we should take a break or something, when in reality, all we have is more work to do this week than we did last week because we have more people to care for. There is a lot of stuff that I am not used to, and I am often left wondering what the right thing to say or do is. I mean, common sense takes you a long way, but what in my past prepared me for the father who came up to me 5min before service started to ask about his two hearing impaired students.

Next week Brittany is supposed to bring her pet turtle, Scooter. That kind of silly, rediculous little thing is what I do love about youth ministry. I hope she really brings it. I am going to use it as a teaching Illustration about our ministry being a safe place. Gotta go.
